Calgary city limits

A community district is a fixed boundary within Calgary, created by and for the Corporation. It represents a distinct geographical area of the city that is determined through the Land Development/Subdivision Process and approved by Council.

The Forward Sortation Area Boundary File depicts the boundaries of forward sortation areas (FSAs) derived from postal codes captured from federal census questionnaires. This is based on census dissemination areas. The file is periodically updated, following the federal census which is currently mandated every 5 years (2011, 2016, 2021...). Derived from the Community Boundaries, this dataset shows the sectors and what communities are within those sectors

This file contains address information for land parcels within The City of Calgary.

The Alberta Township File identifies land (section, township, range) in a grid format known as Dominion Land Survey (DLS) system. It is a graphic representation of these section boundaries (approximately 1 mile X 1 mile). The file contains Section Boundary, Section Name, Original Road Allowance and Quarter Section attribute information.

The polygons in this file represent the section boundaries determined in 1997 by examination and review of all registered legal plans in The City of Calgary. Each section within the city limits are defined by eight quarter section pins and also boundary cadastral stations. The line work was created in 2006 from data which was formally released to The City in 1997.

The geospatial information used to create the Municipal Development Plan (MDP) maps is intended for visualization at a citywide scale. The maps provide both direct and conceptual-level support for many of the policies defined throughout the MDP. The geospatial information is representative of the themes shown at the time of the MDP’s approval and in most cases, has not been updated since. Those amendments that have been made are in accordance with the bylaw amendment process and are on record at City Clerks.
