This is a composite land cover layer created from multiple City data sources and compiled into a single seamless land cover layer in 2015. The final land cover layer was checked against the City of Calgary’s 2014 air photo at a minimum of 1:4000. Missing and/or overlapping areas were resolved manually and City parks were reviewed at 1:1000 resolution. The land cover dataset informs several City analyses, including a Habitat Condition Rating model to assess natural area park health and a structural wildlife connectivity model, where land cover resistance values act as the difficulty rankings for terrestrial wildlife movement. The dataset can also be used in analyses of open/park space contiguity.

These inundation maps show whether a property is at risk for various sized river floods. The size of flood shown on this map has a 1/100 or a 1% chance of occurring in any year.
The three distinct types of inundation shown on the maps are:
o Inundation - Area flooded overland due to riverbank overtopping.
o Isolated - Low lying areas that will not be wet from riverbank overtopping, but may experience groundwater seepage or stormwater backup.
o Protected - Area protected by a permanent flood barrier.
The flood areas shown are based on Alberta Environment and Parks most recent (2020) inundation maps. There is uncertainty inherent in predicting the effects of flood events, and this uncertainty increases for floods with less than a 1% chance of occurrence in any year. Any use of this data must recognizing the uncertainty with regards to the exact location and extent of flooding.

This data set contains the community-wide greenhouse gas emissions over time. The emissions are broken down by sector (e.g. transportation, waste, etc.), and by emissions source (residential buildings, commercial buildings, on-road transportation, etc).

This list of 18 Water Level and Flow monitoring stations along the South Saskatchewan River Basin (Bow and Elbow River watersheds) is derived from a much larger repository of sites in Alberta. Select sites upstream of Calgary as well as sites in Calgary are included. This data is collected from remote monitoring stations and therefore is not thoroughly checked for accuracy. This is intended for preliminary analytical purposes and is subject to change.

This is a measure of the rain accumulated at various rain gauges throughout the City during the rain season, which typically runs from May 1- Sep 30. Readings are taken at 5 minute intervals, and updated daily.
This data is QA/QC'd on an annual basis at the end of the calendar year at which time some adjustments may be made to the data. Users should keep in mind that data viewed before March 31 of the following year should be considered in a ‘raw’ state and may be subject to change

These maps provide landfill setback information as defined under the Municipal Government Act (MGA) Subdivision and Development Regulation (SDR) Landfill Setback (Section 13) from a City of Calgary Landfill or Waste Management Facility (WMF). The file contains the landfill setbacks for the following City of Calgary Landfills: East Calgary WMF, Shepard WMF, Spyhill WMF, Blackfoot Landfill, Highfield Landfill, Manchester Landfill, Nose Creek Landfill, Ogden Landfill, and Springbank Landfill.
