Depicts basic components of The City of Calgary's 2007 Environmental Reserve (ER) Setback Guideline policy, including the base setback based on stream order, and the additional setback modifier based on slope. This can be used as a starting point to scope out riparian-associated ER requirements for planned future developments. It can also be used within existing built areas of the city to highlight past lost ER opportunities.

Using data collected between 2012 and 2017, The City has created this solar potential dataset of all buildings within city limits. The data shows varying degrees of a roof’s solar exposure, on an annual basis, in generalized optimal conditions. The data model used to generate the map takes into account the shape of the terrain and the relative position of building rooftops and structures, existing infrastructure, and tree canopies. It doesn’t take into account weather conditions, such as cloudy days and precipitation that limit a roof’s direct solar exposure. It also does not reflect any new adjacent structures built after 2012 that may obstruct another building’s solar exposure.
The Yield levels are measured as kWh\m2\day. Yield values are interpreted as: Low Yield (0 - 0.87); Low Moderate Yield (0.87 - 1.74); High Moderate Yield (1.74 - 2.61); High Yield (2.61 - 3.48)
The compressed file for download is 4.25 GB. The uncompressed files are 4.5 GB. Data is arranged in Townships, with 18 GeoTiff image files in total.
The Solar map data is intended for information purposes only and as a preliminary solar opportunity assessment tool. It is not intended to be used as a decision making source of information for solar panel installations.

This is a measure of the rain accumulated at various rain gauges throughout the City during the rain season, which typically runs from May 1- Sep 30. Readings are taken at 5 minute intervals, and updated daily.
This data is QA/QC'd on an annual basis at the end of the calendar year at which time some adjustments may be made to the data. Users should keep in mind that data viewed before March 31 of the following year should be considered in a ‘raw’ state and may be subject to change

Step lines define the regulatory flood elevation levels within the floodway/flood fringe. The official designated flood elevation indicated by the text applies within the section of the river between the two lines (one upstream and one downstream) where the number is written. An annotation file with the elevations is provided separately as an attachment (see "About" menu).
These flood elevations reference Calgary’s Regulatory Flood Map (available separately). The Regulatory Flood Map shows the floodway, flood fringe and overland flood zones. The map is used for land planning purposes, showing the designated flood zones where various development and building regulations apply. The map shows the regulatory flood zones for the Bow River, Elbow River, Nose Creek and West Nose Creek.

For more on the development and building regulations that apply in each designated flood zone, please refer to Calgary’s Land Use Bylaw, Part 3 Division 3. http://www.calgary.ca/PDA/pd/Pages/Calgary-Land-Use-bylaw-1P2007/Calgary-Land-Use-Bylaw-1P2007.aspx
Are you building or renovating?
If you are building or renovating, check the regulatory flood map on this page, and the 1:100 year inundation map (from Flooding in Calgary: Maps http://www.calgary.ca/UEP/Water/Pages/Flood-Info/Calgary-flood-maps/Flood-maps.aspx) to see if your property is in a flood risk zone. Since late 2011, property owners have been advised of both the official designated flood elevation per the Land Use Bylaw (based on this regulatory flood map) and the most up to date recommended flood elevation (based on the updated 1:100 year inundation map) for their specific property.
