The data represented in this map are 2-way volumes collected from spring to fall between 2007 & 2012. The data came from a variety of sources, and 6 hour counts were factored to 16 hours using screenline data.

The data in this map are 2-way volumes collected on a single weekday in 2017, normalized to represent average September/October volume. Factors were calculated based on 10 automated count stations.

The Regional Transportation Model (RTM) is a computer simulation of the city and surrounding region. This file contains the road network assumptions for the 2015 Scenario from the 2015 CTP/MDP Scenario Series. This series is a time series of future forecasts that are used in transportation planning analysis. The series contains five horizons from 2015 to 2076 and includes roads classified as collector and above and does not include local roads. his data is a representation, not an exact replica, of the road network and is intended to represent the road network that Calgary Region residents may experience provided the anticipated changes in infrastructure and land use occur. This data was collected as part of The City of Calgary's two-year shared electric scooter and dockless bike share pilots.

The trips in this dataset occurred between July 1st, 2019 and September 30th, 2019. Excluded from this dataset are trips that lasted fewer than 30 seconds or 100 metres, and trips where the geospatial data quality made it unsuitable for analysis.

Trip start times have been generalized to 1-hour intervals. Trip origins and destinations have been generalized by tiling the city with hexagonal bins measuring 30,000 square metres each. The latitude and longitude coordinates are the centrepoint of the corresponding bin.

Transportation Zones (TZ) are the basic geographic unit used to simulate travel behaviour in the Calgary Regional Transportation Model (RTM). They are used to organize the input and output data for a forecast scenario.

Every year in May, The City conducts the Central Business District (CBD) cordon count. The cordon count is performed at 31 locations around the CBD over a four week time period, collecting data on how people travel into and out of downtown Calgary. The CBD cordon circles the downtown with the Bow River to the north and the railway tracks to the south and from 11 Street in the west to the Elbow River in the east. These data represent the total number of persons entering (inbound) and exiting (outbound) at each location, by modes, during a 16 hour time period. This raw dataset is NOT normalized to average weekday. It is a snapshot of the inbound and outbound activity on a single day at these locations and reflects conditions specific to that day such as construction, lane closures, weather, etc. Therefore, data may not be directly comparable between locations or years.
