The near real-time data has not had quality assurance processes completed for it. Please use at your own discretion.

It is sourced from the provincial open data source provided by Community and Social Services, and content is limited to Calgary-area shelters. Daily bicycle and pedestrian counts are available from sensors set up on the Peace Bridge, cycle tracks and Stephen Avenue. Using an Eco-Counter machine, cyclists are detected using loops embedded in the pavement. The data provides a breakdown of the number of cyclists on a daily, weekly, monthly and yearly basis.

Impounded cats and dogs are animals sheltered at the Animal Service Centre because they were running at large in their communities, a violation under the Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw. A cat or dog running at large creates safety issues for the public and for the animal.
