The voting subdivision defines the area served by a voting station which is where an elector casts his/her vote. It is an area of a local jurisdiction or ward designated as a voting subdivision by the Returning Officer. The Returning Officer may divide the local jurisdiction into voting subdivisions and may alter their boundaries.

Wards are a geographical division of the municipality and are referred to by a number defined in the bylaw. Divisions are determined under the authority of the Municipal Government Act and criteria in Council policy.

A highly accurate elevation dataset of ground surface topography, derived from aerial Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR).
