The bicycle count is one of the ways the Bicycle Program is monitoring and evaluating cycling data, in keeping with the Council approved Cycling Strategy. Pedestrian counts are included to monitor pathway traffic.
The City collects and monitors information on the number of bicycle riders, gender, age, and helmet use and will be reported on annually. Dependent on weather conditions and construction, count locations that were counted first in 2013 will be counted in future years in order to gauge trends about cycling. Additional count locations are added as resources become available. This dataset includes counts completed from 2013-2016.

Avoid downtown parking fees, exercise regularly, bypass traffic congestion, and discover Calgary's river pathways and bikeways. Seven Park and Bike sites are located five to eight kilometres from downtown Ca​lgary. They feature direct access from major roads and great connections to river pathways. The City of Calgary is testing the viability of dockless, free-standing, bicycle share through a two-year pilot. Set to run until 2020, the Bike Share pilot will allow The City to explore new ways of providing flexible, affordable and accessible mobility options.
