Municipal Development Plan Map 2.
The geospatial information used to create the Municipal Development Plan (MDP) maps is intended for visualization at a citywide scale. The maps provide both direct and conceptual-level support for many of the policies defined throughout the MDP. The geospatial information is representative of the themes shown at the time of the MDP’s approval and in most cases, has not been updated since. Those amendments that have been made are in accordance with the bylaw amendment process and are on record at City Clerks.

These maps provide landfill setback information as defined under the Municipal Government Act (MGA) Subdivision and Development Regulation (SDR) Landfill Setback (Section 13) from a City of Calgary Landfill or Waste Management Facility (WMF). The file contains the landfill setbacks for the following City of Calgary Landfills: East Calgary WMF, Shepard WMF, Spyhill WMF, Blackfoot Landfill, Highfield Landfill, Manchester Landfill, Nose Creek Landfill, Ogden Landfill, and Springbank Landfill. Tree Canopy contains polygons outlining the extent of tree cover for all land within the City of Calgary. The tree canopy was derived by Remote Sensing software using City of Calgary Orthophotos and Lidar. The resulting data was then quality controlled and edited using various photogrammetric and processing tools.

This dataset contains a forecast of the total population and jobs in each transportation zone from 2014 to 2076. This forecast series is a backcast scenario to achieve growth targets identified in the Municipal Development Plan. (www.calgary.ca/mdp)

TREE_CANOPY_2022 was created by updating TREE_CANOPY_2020 photogrammetrically using the 2022 Digital Aerial Survey (DAS) aerial imagery. Trees and large shrub areas over 2m tall are captured in this dataset.

The impervious surface layer contains polygon features generated from Digital Aerial Survey mapping line work. The layer features represent the various impervious surface types found within The City of Calgary. These features are classified by surface type and description based on the classification and specifications used in the Digital Aerial Survey Program.
